How did SONdance get started?
SONdance Christian Dance School grew out of Jolynda’s desire to express her heart felt praise to God. In 1988 she started to share this idea with a few other women who had the same desire. Jolynda had experienced other ballet schools, but there was something missing. She wanted to protect the innocence of young people and maintain modest movements and dress. So she developed modest standards and ensured that the movements and dress would not be revealing or immodest. As this idea grew more and more, dancers discovered Jolynda’s vision, which was and is” …to make His praises glorious...” In the beginning Jolynda was the only teacher and classes were held in a shared portable trailer at New Hope Church. In order to ensure that there was quality as well as inspiration Jolynda enrolled in the Cecchetti Council of America (CCA) Organization. This is an internationally recognized Ballet Method. Now with a 6th level CCA certification and the Inspiration of God, Jolynda is the director of SONdance Christian Dance School where there are over 35 classes of Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical etc, from beginner to advanced now being offered. In January 2007 SONdance moved to our new facility at 612 Commerce Ct.
What is the Cecchetti Ballet Method?

Cecchetti Syllabus classes are taught by teachers certified by the Cecchetti Council of America. We believe that each student’s technique is greatly improved by weekly syllabus classes. Enrico Cecchetti, founder of the Cecchetti method, believed that it is more important to execute an exercise correctly once than to do it a dozen times carelessly. We believe that by pairing a structured syllabus class with quick study classes, we can  offer our students both a firm       technical foundation as well as development of their artistic abilities and expression. Syllabus students are required to learn French terminology, theory, musical application as well as a basic understanding.
